Taxes:
To hold tax increases and spending in check, I introduced HJR1005 "The Arkansas Taxpayer Bill of Rights" Amendment. This amendment requires a 3/4 vote in both houses to increase any tax or fee. Requires a balanced budget. It limits the growth of the State government budget to 3%. It requires budget surpluses to be used for temporary tax cuts.
I will not vote for any tax increases on the citizens of Arkansas!
In fact, I voted two time in my first year in the House to cut individual and corporate income taxes. Combined this was a tax cut of over a quarter of a billion dollars. This is just a small step towards the elimination of our state income taxes. To accelerate this process we must cut state spending. I plan to introduce a bill to do just that if
re-elected.
